How we work
The CUHK Review of Philosophy is a student-run journal of interviews with philosophers. Each issue records conversations with members of the Department of Philosophy about their work, their paths into philosophy and what they hope the Department becomes.
Preparation
Before drafting questions, the editors read the interviewee’s published work. The questions begin from what the interviewee takes to be central. A second editor reviews every set of questions before it is sent.
Approval
Every interviewee sees the written text and approves it before publication. Recordings stay private unless the interviewee agrees otherwise. Corrections are listed with the issue concerned.
Editors
The founding editors are Chuk Tai Wai (Wisdom, 祝大為), Lee Kwok Shun (Shun, 李國舜) and Li Peggy Jesslyn (Peggy). All three share editorial decisions. Chuk Tai Wai designed and laid out the first issue.
Future editors
We are getting to know first-year students, including those we met at the Orientation Camp, and considering who could carry the journal forward. We look for sustained interest in philosophy, sound judgement and the ability to finish work.
We plan to allow at least one semester to assess candidates before inviting a new editor. A successor has yet to be appointed. Training will begin after a suitable candidate joins the team.
Faculty advisors
Professor Mang Fan-lun and Professor Li Shiying, Department of Philosophy, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Support
The journal is supported by the Department of Philosophy at CUHK. We thank Ms. Ivy Ling Pui-yee and Ms. Kit Tsang Sze-ki for their administrative assistance with the first issue.
